Dr Thomas Wennekers is a Reader in Computational Neuroscience. He studied Physics and Computer Science and obtained his PhD (Dr.rer-nat.) in Computer Science 1998 summa cum laude from the University of Ulm, Germany. His research focuses on the use of Hebbian cell assemblies as dynamic cortical representations in sensory processes and as building blocks for higher cognitive functions. This includes large-scale, multiple area simulations of biologically realistic spiking-neuron networks of sensory and motor systems as well as more theoretical approaches regarding general principles of high level information processing.
